What do I need to bring?
Shorts, t-shirts, sunblock-high factor (45), Some cotton long sleeve shirts, light trousers, sunhat, swim wraps, At least 2 swim suits, Lightweight waterproof Jacket, Insect Repellent for when on shore. You are rarely bitten while at sea, some good books, CD's, Snorkel Mask and flipper. There are masks on board but for a longer trip it's often nicer to bring your own.
With no marinas we start from beach in dinghy to yacht. We hate sand on board so shoes are really for on shore. Flip flops and trainers for longer walking.
Avoid hard suitcases, a soft kit bag is easily stowed. Bring your own towels, bedding is provided not towels.
What currency should I bring?
Our local currency is the TT dollar. Up the islands it is the EC dollar. I suggest you bring US dollars or travellers cheques, easy to change , most commonly recognized. Visa or Mastercard are accepted in most restaurants.
Do I need travel insurance?
Always recommended.
Do I need a visa?
Visitors from the US and UK do not need a visa to holiday in the Caribbean.
Some basic facts....
Car rental starts at about $200 TT per day.
Car number plates distinguish between taxis, rentals, private cars and trucks. H-plates are taxis, R-plates are rentals, P-plates are private and T-plates are trucks.
Wine is very expensive, local rum is the poor man's drink.
Do I need any innoculations?
None that we know of, however it would always be wise to consult your Doctor.
